Born and raised in the greater Seattle area, I was fortunate to grow up in a household filled with creativity. My dad, an accomplished artist in his own regard, served as an inspiration to pursue my passion for art from a young age. My mom's position as a social worker instilled the importance of serving the community and had me thinking about my impact on the world early on. This led me first to elementary education, with a focus in science education as I fell in love with science learning in college where I was made to feel ownership over the discoveries we uncovered in my courses. I found in my experience teaching that my passion for science was easily transferred to my students through the way I presented the concepts as phenomena to be explored and discovered. Students fed off my excitement and were empowered to see themselves as scientists capable of figuring out high level scientific concepts. I was selected to work with the district to improve the science curriculum on an advisory team and found that I enjoyed the creation side of science content.

After some challenging experiences teaching within the pandemic, I decided I wanted to take a break from the classroom to explore other career possibilities. This led me to discover scientific illustration, where my passions for art and science converged. I applied as soon as I could to the science illustration program at CSUMB, hearing that it was the "go to" program for many aspiring and accomplished science illustrators. Creating a portfolio from scratch, I worked to show that I had the capabilities and the drive to make it in this field. I was accepted to CSUMB for the 2022-23 school year, and my skills and abilities grew tenfold as I progressed through the rigorous program. Finishing up my coursework in June, I emerged a science illustrator armed with the tools to visually communicate complex concepts, evoke curiosity, and bridge the gap between the scientific community and the general public.

My artistic style often incorporates meticulous attention to detail and a fusion of traditional and digital mediums. I strive to bring scientific concepts to life in a visually captivating manner, making them accessible and engaging for a wide audience. Whether it's through botanical illustrations, anatomical renderings, or conceptual pieces, I aim to inspire a sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world.

As an artist, I am constantly exploring new techniques and pushing the boundaries of my skills. Thank you for visiting my portfolio website, and I invite you to embark on an artistic journey with me. Together, let's engage your audience in seeing the value in the science concepts you care about through the lens of captivating illustrations.
